Scope of Services

The Communications’ staff is composed of three professionals – Nancy Hamilton, APR, director of communications, Lee Rose, communications manager and Katie Meckley, communications coordinator. The Communications staff will continue working with a local public relations agency on a per project basis as needed.

The primary roles of the department are to create and implement the tourism publicity programs in state, national and international media, emphasizing off-season visitation to the Fort Myers/Sanibel area. Also, the staff promotes the value of tourism through media awareness campaigns to educate the local community. A third role is to serve as the Lee County Film Office.

  • Hosted 95 journalists from 7 countries, either individual or group media research trips
  • 65 news releases
  • Conducted research/submitted information to 1,133 journalists
  • Had published $3.7 million in advertising equivalence of editorial coverage in domestic publications as recorded by Burrelle’s Clipping Service, which reached a circulation of more than 177 million people. This does not include electronic or international coverage.
