Celebration of Business & Tourism Awards Luncheon & Trade Show

The Celebration of Business and Tourism - Chrysalis Award event, co-produced by the VCB and the Greater Fort Myers Chamber, was a huge success!
Designed to foster a stronger alliance between the tourism industry and the county's business community, nominees were honored in the following categories:

February 2010 - Lessons from Dolphins Bill Wolden, veteran professional dolphin trainer and director of Dolphin Quest University, featured interactive stories and videos about dolphin training and how it relates to teamwork, motivation, fun, and communication in today’s work place. Topics included: clear and consistent communication between co-workers, bosses, and clients is essential in order to get anything accomplished; rewarding good behavior is a key strategy in improving work performance, motivating staff and retaining employees; having a positive attitude and showing sincerity are skills that can greatly influence your outlook on work and life; and having fun in and out of the workplace is the most important lesson of all and can affect every aspect of your life. October 2009 – Annual Team Tourism Summit 2009 Featuring Keynote Speaker Cindy Novotny, "Radical Mentor", Author and Managing Partner of Master Connection Associates, the VCB's 2009 Annual Team Tourism Summit provided partners with an in-depth exploration of creative selling for maximum ROI in a tough economy. General sessions and breakout workshops addressed creating a stimulus plan for your business, delivering value, prospecting for and winning more business, developing dynamic presentations, implementing a customer service excellence program, and more! The VCB also introduced their 2009-2010 Annual Sales & Marketing Plan

May 2009 - Team Tourism Workshop for National Tourism Week Tourism plays a vital role in our community and continuing to support this industry benefits everyone in the county. January 2009 - Brand Workshop "The three key rules of marketing are brand recognition, brand recognition, brand recognition." – Anonymous. The VCB hosted a powerful, entertaining workshop with Gary Mueller, senior vice president, creative director and writer for bvk, presenting a high-energy presentation designed to help industry partners develop an organizational brand that consumers crave along with Jennifer Simmons, vice president of research & strategic development for bvk, demonstrating methods of how industry partners can integrate their brand strategy with the destination’s brand in order to maximize the effectiveness of marketing efforts for all. May 2008 - Annual Tourism Breakfast On average, tourism supports nearly 20% of employment in Lee County and every year, the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau celebrates the area's leading employer at their annual tourism breakfast. April 2008 - UK Forum Did you know that there were 85,250 visitors from the United Kingdom to Lee County in 2006, representing 4.1% of total visitors to our area? And, that these international travelers, when visiting Florida, have an average spend of $125 per person, per day, and typically stay 9 – 14 nights? The VCB’s UK Forum on April 23, 2008 offered industry partners an understanding of the benefit of international visitors to their business, relayed UK visitor profile data, and offered methods to which partners could work with companies that can help book this type of valuable business.
